More than 650,000 plastic water bottles have been recalled in two states, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Valley Springs Artesian Gold, LLC, initally recalled the products on Feb. 6 because the water was bottled under “insanitary conditions.” On Feb. 26, the FDA gave the recall the second-highest risk level, Class II, meaning the risk of severe health effects is low, but there is a possibility of temporary or reversible consequences.1

The FDA did not provide specific instructions for this recall. However, as a Class II recall, the safest option is not to use the recalled water bottles, and to toss or return them instead.
